RiverSing
Thanks to all those who joined us and the Revels for the first annual RiverSing!
Over 2,000 community members filled the Parklands on September 22nd to celebrate
the arrival of fall with song, dance and light at the Weeks Footbridge. If you
enjoyed the event and would like to help support next year's RiverSing or the
Conservancy's ongoing stewardship of the Charles River Parklands, please contribution
today! You can either mail in a check or donate online.

Weeks Bridge Happenings
If you weren't able to join us for RiverSing, head down to the Weeks Bridge at
night to see its new architectural lighting by light designer John Powell. Many
thanks to Harvard University, the LEF Foundation, the DCR and many others for
making the permanent lighting possible!
Conservancy Volunteers are working with the Northeastern University chapter
of the American Society of Civil Engineers who designed and are installing a more
sustainable solution to the extensive erosion problems around the bridge's base
(on the Cambridge side). Keep an eye out for new pavement, landscaping, lawn restoration
and graffiti removal. Learn
more about the engineering students.

Advocacy
The governor announced his vetoes of the supplemental budget last Friday. While
a few environmental items were vetoed or reduced, generally speaking, the environment
did all right. You might be interested to learn that the Department of Conservation
and Recreation (2800-0107) capital projects budget was reduced by $2,030,000.
Thanks to the Environmental League of Massachusetts for compiling information
about the budget.
